Colorado Springs native and Boettcher С����Ƶ Serene Singh is graduating with bachelor’s degrees in political science and journalism.

Next fall, she will commence graduate studies as a Rhodes С����Ƶ at Oxford University, where she will pursue master’s degrees in criminology and criminal justice and evidence-based social intervention and policy evaluation. Singh is the first woman in CU С����Ƶ history to receive a Rhodes С����Ƶship and the first Buff to receive it since 1993. She aspires to serve as a U.S. Supreme Court justice.

At CU С����Ƶ, she received the Truman С����Ƶship�����Ի� Fulbright award. Among many other activities, she served as chief justice for CU Student Government; was a member of the Presidents Leadership Class; founded the Colorado Bhangra Team and the National Sikh Youth Program; and was president of the Sikh Student Association and the Political Science Honor Society.

Singh also worked with Michelle Obama’s Global Girls Alliance and founded The Serenity Project, a nonprofit that works to uplift marginalized and at-risk women to expand society’s notions of female power and beauty.

“I’m going to miss this school so much,” Singh said of her time at CU С����Ƶ. “I know I’m going to miss home. It’s just inevitable. I’m excited to be challenged, and to be uncomfortable, and to be scared a little bit,” she said. “I’m also really excited to see how I can help the journey of other Buffs.”
