The HealthBuffs program includes peer educators, peer wellness coaches and volunteers committed to promoting student health and wellness.

Volunteers
Volunteers are an important part of our HealthBuffs program. Whether you are interested in a way to get involved or learn more about health and wellness, Health Promotion has a wide range of one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities that can help you make an impact on your campus community. Come help us staff an event, support outreach and event promotion, get involved in special projects, distribute health resources, and more.
- Receive volunteer hours, signed off by a Health Promotion staff member.
- Develop highly sought-after skills transferable to the workforce regardless of major such as team work, leadership, communication, event management, project management, and public speaking.
- Receive training and professional development opportunities in a variety of health-related topics.
- Gain experience in the field of health and wellness and contribute to the betterment of the health and wellness of the CU 小蓝视频 community.
- Engage in networking opportunities with peers and professional staff and become a part of a group that is committed and passionate about Health and Wellness on campus.
- Collaborate with HealthBuff Peer Educators and Peer Wellness Coaches, gaining exposure to these positions and future job opportunities.
- Receive various forms of recognition and credentialing depending on the level of service and contribution.
- Expand your knowledge, become a leader on campus, and gain experience in the field of public health through health promotion, education, and prevention.
- Current CU 小蓝视频 Student Interest in public health, health promotion, or health and wellness
- Commitment to inclusivity and multiculturalism
- Organized, dependable, and accountable Ability to work as part of a team
- No previous experience is required Attend a volunteer orientation/training in mid-September.
- Dates and times of the training will be made available in August
- Attendance at a monthly Monday meeting (5:00-6:30 pm) during the academic year.
- At these meetings, you will meet with other team members and receive up-to-date training and information on upcoming volunteer opportunities.

Peer Educators
HealthBuffs peer educators enhance the health of CU 小蓝视频 students through a variety of peer-led initiatives in the areas of stress, sleep, sexual health, relationship wellness, self-image, alcohol and other drugs, nicotine cessation, suicide prevention and more. The HealthBuffs peer education program also promotes student leadership by providing essential health and wellness services to campus student groups and organizations.
- Be a part of creating a culture of wellness on campus and make a positive impact on campus
- Develop presentation, facilitation, collaboration, program planning and team building skills
- Receive ongoing mentorship and training
- Expand your knowledge of college health issues and evidence-based strategies to foster well-being
- Gain certifications, such peer educator certification from a nationally recognized program
- Enhance your resume or graduate school application
- Flexible work schedule
Peer Educators work closely with each other and with professional staff to initiate, plan, and deliver harm reduction, educational, and/or skill-building programs such as:
- Outreach and events for high-risk times and awareness events (e.g., Welcome Week, Halloween, St. Patrick鈥檚 Day, Suicide Prevention Week, National Public Health Week, finals, graduation)
- Regularly scheduled tabling events and outreach (e.g., Health Huts)
- Additional workshops, programs, and presentations in residence halls, for specific colleges/programs, for student organizations, upon request, and/or for all students.
Common topics include stress management, sleep hygiene, sexual health, suicide prevention, relationship wellness, alcohol and other drug use, overdose prevention and response, illness prevention, and more.
A subset of Peer Educators may also support the Peer Wellness Coaching program, including:听
- Engaging in one-on-one and/or group coaching conversations with students focused on developing wellness goals, clarifying next steps, and connecting with relevant campus resources.
- Facilitating 鈥淪idewalk Talks鈥 outreach programming, focusing on offering brief, structured, goal-focused conversations
- Participating in additional training and supervision regarding coaching responsibilities (e.g., weekly group meeting, practice coaching sessions, resource review)听
HealthBuffs Peer Educators are expected to participate in weekly staff meetings (Mondays, 5 鈥 6 pm), supervision, and other content-focused training opportunities.听

Operational Skills
- Experience in customer service, leadership, outreach, presentation or facilitation
- Knowledge and familiarity with campus organizations and resources
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Other Requirements
- A full-time degree seeking CU student
- Have and maintain a 2.5 or higher grade point average (GPA)
- Ability to commit to the Peer Educator position for at least one academic year
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends
- Complete mandatory trainings, including the NASPA Certified Peer Educator Training and training week (Aug. 11-16, 2025)
- Attendance at weekly Monday night meetings from 5-6 p.m. during the academic year听
Compensation:听Starting at $16/hour.
